Matt has worked in the recruitment industry since the early 1990’s with experience across financial services, technology, commerce and industry in both temporary and permanent recruitment.  He has held Executive Management positions since 2005, and helped build the Greater China region of Robert Walters into the preeminent player in the market. Having spent more than half of his life in Asia he was well equipped to deal with all the challenges that came with this. Working with teams across borders and cultures is something that Matt will always cherish.

Matt moved to Hong Kong with Robert Walters in 2000 and took up the role of running the Hong Kong operations in 2009.  In 2011 he was given the opportunity to take on responsibility for the Thailand operations as well as start up a new office in Taiwan. In 2013 Matt was given the responsibility of running the Greater China business consisting of over 200 staff across 5 separate offices.

Matt brings a wealth of leadership experience and strategic thinking into business, and has a strong track record in successful business transformation and the development of his staff. His passion is people as he understands that they are a company’s most important asset. Matt believes that we are all wired for connection and it is through honest and open conversations that we will all reach our full potential. With work and life being so interconnected, he believes it is so important that the development of staff involves skills that can be used in either.

Matt is happily married and a father to two teenagers, and this is what is most important to him. His hobbies include ocean paddling, fishing and golf.

Interesting fact: Having been brought up in Japan from the age of 5 until 17, he is able to converse in Japanese.
